Best Disney Plus shows – originals and returning favourites

Disney's streaming service and its add-on, Star, have thousands of TV series to watch.

It’s set to be a jam-packed month of exciting new releases on Disney Plus this May, with the first week of the month bringing new episodes of 911, Shardlake, American Horror Story: Delicate and plenty more.

It’s been a little bit of a wait for UK fans of procedural drama 911, as season 7 landed in the US a couple of months ago, but now fans can get reacquainted with the fearless police officers, paramedics and firefighters at the centre of the show.

Elsewhere, Sean Bean and Arthur Hughes lead the cast of Shardlake, an adaptation based on the late CJ Sansom‘s novel series of the same name. Set in the 16th century, the drama follows lawyer Shardlake, who is tasked with investigating a mysterious murder at a monastery.

FX’s Feud: Capote vs the Swans is also available to stream on Disney Plus, having been released earlier this year in the US. Tom Hollander leads the cast as writer Truman Capote, who we follow as he pens a damning chapter of his book about his group of high society female friends, who he nicknamed ‘the swans’.

The last few months have also boasted some stellar releases on the streaming platform, with the likes of epic historical series Shōgun now available to stream in full, as well as Renegade Nell, Extraordinary and X-Men ’97.

Other hidden gem shows which are less well-known but still worth checking out include murder mystery series Death and Other Details, Tracker, Chief Detective and more.

There’s plenty more to discover on Disney Plus, from beloved comedy Modern Family to Damson Idris’s much talked-about Snowfall and vampire comedy What We Do in the Shadows, all of which have proven popular.
